Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadow Matte 390 Review and Swatches

July 28, 2012

"Beauty has a lot to do with character" said Kevyn Aucoin, the late American celebrity make-up artist and photographer. It is so true. I mean, what is the point of a product that looks all attractive and nice but has no quality and performs badly.

However, this eyeshadow refill very much conforms to the quote. The packaging is plain, boring, and unattractive. But it makes up for its unpleasant physical appearance with its quality, sturdy packaging, and brilliant performance. Needless to say, Inglot makes the best affordable, matte eyeshadows . Let us delve deeper now.....

My Experience

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this brand, Inglot has something called the Freedom System wherein they sell the empty palettes and refill shades of their lipsticks, eyeshadows, pressed powders, blushes, and other products, separately. You can select your shades and customize your own palette. The shades come in square and round refill pans. The eyeshadows also come in different finishes - matte, AMC, DS, and pearl. Strangely, the quantity of the refill varies based on the finish chosen. Also, I think that the round refills have lesser quantity in them when compared to the square ones.

Natural Light: Left - Swiped once; Right - Blended

I usually prefer neutral, matte eyeshadows and I am impressed with the matteness and high quality of this Inglot one. I got the square refill and the texture is smooth and creamy and is also very easy to blend.

The shade Matte 390 is a dull beige with greyish undertones. It is a great neutral color and will suit all complexions. The eyeshadow is highly pigmented and even neutral shades like this one have excellent color payoff. What you see in the pan is what you get on the lid. This particular shade can be used as an all-over lid color or to blend your darker eyeshadows. There is no fall-out too.

Taken in Natural Light: Top- Swiped once; Bottom - Blended

It has good staying power and does not crease. Since it is available in so many shades, I am sure that each one of you will find a color that suits you. The quantity that you get in the refill is also good considering its price. Thus, it is reasonable and affordable.

Pros

  • Good quantity for a refill, therefore value for money
  • True matte and high quality finish
  • Smooth, creamy texture makes it easy to blend
  • Great neutral color that will suit all skin types
  • Excellent color payoff and no fall-out
  • Good staying power
  • Can also be stored in the refill case as it is quite sturdy

Cons

  • Availability of Inglot is the main problem. As of now, we can rely only on online shopping
  • Requires a palette for proper storage, but not a must
  • Eyeshadow applicator not provided

Overall Impression

One of the truest matte finish in eyeshadow brands, these Inglot refills are definitely worth giving a shot. Since the refill packaging is itself quite sturdy, you can store it as it is too.

****Just for Laughs****

Junior's Prayer for Me: Yesterday, after Junior came home from school, I was changing him from school uniform to home-wear. He saw my distressed face and asked me what was wrong with me. I told him that I had headache. I then asked him to tell God to "bless mamma so that her headache goes away".

And Junior immediately folded his hands and prayed, "Oh God, please bless Mamma so that her head goes away..."

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
