Complete Detox Health Drink Recipe

October 10, 2012

As we all know, no matter how expensive a cream we slather on our skin; a proper diet, fitness routine and lifestyle are of utmost importance in achieving good health and beauty. In our modern-day lives, we somehow tend to neglect these factors. We rely a lot on ready-made stuff, laden with preservatives and chemicals. As a result, there is a build-up of harmful substances in the body.

To get rid of these harmful substances or toxins, it is necessary to detoxify your body, once in a while. Here, I am sharing a health drink recipe from the celebrity dietician, Shonali Sabherwal's book. As the name suggests, this drink or juice will help in complete cleansing and purification of the body. It detoxifies your entire system and flushes out the build-up of harmful substances from your body.

Health Drink Recipe (Serves 2)

Ingredients

1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Beetroot
3 Carrots
Lime Juice

Procedure

  1. Finely chop all the vegetables.
  2. Add some water to the vegetables and blend in a mixer.
  3. Add some freshly-squeezed lime juice to this.
  4. Your health drink is ready!

All the vegetables used in this drink are easily available in the market. Almost everyone likes or atleast has no problem with the taste of carrot and cucumber. Some may not like the taste of uncooked beetroot though, including me. When I made this drink last Sunday, it had a slightly muddy taste to it because of the beetroot. However, when I added the lime juice, it gave a nice tangy twist to the whole thing and I was able to drink it without any hassle. I am saying this because usually I do not care much for health drinks but this one was quite drinkable. So you can add lime juice as per your requirement. It will only do you good.

Also, the recipe does not mention straining the juice once it is ready, in order to get the maximum benefits out of it. But you can strain the juice if you are not comfortable with its consistency. Now if you are really lazy or think that this health drink is not for you, then atleast cut the vegetables and have it as it is, like you see in the first picture. As they say, something is better than nothing!

Do try and let me know. After all, if your body is clean internally, then your skin will be clean and clear too!!!

****Just for Laughs****

What is the relation between a pair of ear muffs and bad dreams? Nothing, you would say. Apparently, there is, atleast in Junior's part of the world!

Last night, we were getting all ready to go to sleep. I was busy applying my lip balm when I noticed Junior putting on his ear muffs. Now Junior is the kind of little fellow who would never let a earmuff around his ear even if was suffering from fever or cold. So I was kind of pleasantly surprised when last night, he did the unthinkable and very seriously, put it on himself. So I asked him why and he said, "If I put this, no, I will not get any (bad) dreams!". He then turned his back on me and went to sleep .

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

    2. Ha ha even I find it strange but the truth is I was 7 or 8 and at that time, it didn't taste like it does now. In fact it was very yummy. So when i first tasted after growing up, I was expecting the same taste but it tasted like DDT eew. I don't know if it is the pesticides they use now or if the one I tasted as a kid was some special produce which was extra juicy and tasty :)

  6. I will definitely try this out. What I like about it is that the ingredients are mostly found in my kitchen so its easy to prepare. I believe that once in while we need to detoxify our bodies so that we are protected from illnesses. I hope that I would like the taste of it.
