Some time ago, there used to be a squirrel around our house. Everyday, she would come at a particular time of the day. She would first check our pomegranate tree for fruits, then our luvikaaya (berry) tree, then the papaya and then our lemon plant, and finally the berry-like fruit on the palms. I think I am that squirrel. Always experimenting..... with skincare... with makeup... always trying more..... never satisfied with just one! As time passed, the squirrel reduced her visits; but my habit of trying still continues strong. Let us see now how this trial fared...

My Experience with Burst of Happyness Rose Crush Deodorant Cream

If you use a lot of store-bought chemical deodorants and have been wanting to try something natural, then you will be pleased with this review. Let me start with the fragrance. The Burst of Happyness Rose Crush Deodorant Cream has a rich rose and patchouli smell that is very pleasant and endearing. I do not know how patchouli smells individually but have smelt it in other combinations previously to know that it is a smell I like. Even here, patchouli makes the rose scent richer and makes an otherwise feminine rose scent more unisex. Loved this combination - it is definitely better than just plain rose! Mr. B loved it too!

Texture-wise, the deodorant cream appears frozen in the tub. But it is not and you can scoop it out either with fingers or a spoon/spatula. It feels like a dry powdery cream but melts on the first touch with skin and then becomes easy to spread. You may find some tiny white particles of the baking soda left behind sometimes; but it does not bother me.

I am not fond of the tub packaging though. A roll-on stick would have been easier to use.

As far as staying power is concerned, I am happy to report that this natural deodorant actually works! I got this on the 1st of January and I have been using this every single day for the past 2 1/2 weeks. The rose-patchouli lasts only a few hours, say maximum 5 hours, which is good in my opinion. Though the scent disappears, it successfully prevents body odour for a really long time after that.

As an experiment, I used the Nivea Fresh Natural deo (coincidentally I had the Rose and Jasmine one) and the Burst of Happyness Rose Crush deodorant cream respectively on each under-arm. After 5 hours, the Nivea scent was gone while the scent of this deodorant cream still lingered. The body-odour protection factor was also much higher with the Burst of Happyness deodorant cream. All in all, I am very happy!

I would like to also mention that I have tested this on normal days as well as during mall shopping and found to be equally effective. However, I cannot comment on its effectiveness in summer or on high-activity days as I have not tested in these conditions as of now.

As you can see in the below pictures, the swatch on my finger and arm have already started melting, making it super-easy to spread.

This natural deodorant cream works great against body odour, without any of the harmful chemicals or gas found in store-bought deodorants. The wonderful rose-patchouli scent is rich and endearing. I will continue using this as I do not feel the need to return to chemical deodorants as of now. The only thing that I need to see is how long will one tub last. Once that is determined and I find it to be economical, I will be surely repurchasing this as well as getting the other variants. Definitely recommended!

UPDATE - So this update is mainly to tell you about things I have missed out in the original review and also my views after having used it for a longer period now.

As mentioned in this post, I started using it on January 1st and today it is 10th March. I could not use it for exactly 5 days during these 2 months due to a sudden trip out of town. So it has lasted me a good 2 months and some of it is still left. So quantity is good!

Though the scent starts fading after a few hours, the product provides 24-hour protection against body odour in my case. I cannot say how it would perform during high-activity days. But it has proved to be effective and will take you through your mall-shopping and other errands without problem.

The Rose Crush is a universal scent; it will appeal to men, women, and children. In fact, when I get a new tub, I plan to start using it on 8-year-old Junior as well. I hope his body accepts it too.

I have used it post-shaving. It did not sting me. Yes, I am surprised too.... and happy! Of course, your skin may not react the same way; but mine was just fine!

Also, I always use it after a warm shower on damp skin. i think this has helped the product to spread and get absorbed nicely.

I did not find the need to use a chemical deo during this period; so that should explain a lot of things! I did use my perfumes and body mists for fragrance whenever I went out; but never anything else for body odour. I am very happy! Only one thing - you may get bored of using the same scent over time; but a few good perfumes and body mists to layer on, and having other variants of the BOH deo cream will keep things interesting!!
