Neither a lipstick nor a gloss, but bigger than both! Stating that it was the end of colour, Rimmel London launched the Apocalips lip lacquers in 13 different shades.

Based on online swatches, I picked up one of the darker shades, Galaxy, but it turned out to be a pretty mauve-y pink colour on me, not dark but still very flattering. Bigger than a lipstick and gloss? No! But definitely different than both. Why? Read on...

My Experience

'Galaxy' is such a lovely mauve-y pink colour that it will suit anybody and everybody. It has a super-creamy texture and a glossy finish. Like a glossy, creamy liquid lip colour. It is opaque and non-sticky. Will suit dry and pigmented lips. It does have a weird chemically smell but that goes away.

The lasting power is good for a gloss, though, the intensity/glossiness gradually decreases with time. Just one dip of the applicator gives full coverage. However, the colour will not sink in or set and remains on lips as it is. As a result, it tends to bleed and also transfer onto things. I would suggest using a lipliner to keep the colour in place.

This particular shade, 'Galaxy', has micro-shimmer which gives it a nice sheen but which I still personally dislike. Had it no shimmer, I would have used it more often.

Overall Impression

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in 'Galaxy' is a really pretty colour that will flatter all skin tones and will suit girls with dry and pigmented lips too. It is non-sticky and has good lasting power for a gloss. If shimmer is not an issue with you, then go get it now!
